Beyond Family Prayer-The Next Step

We pray for our families on a daily basis and when we have prayed we would like to know that they will live eternally with God. Have you ever wondered what the next step is?

Definition of salvation

Salvation is also called deliverance, redemption or born again. It is the saving of human beings from death or separation from God Christ’s death and resurrection and the justification following this salvation.

Born Again

A born-again Christian is someone who has repented of their sins and turned to Christ for their salvation, and as a result has become part of God’s family forever. All this takes place as God’s Spirit works in our lives. You see, by nature we aren’t members of God’s family, and we don’t have any right to inherit eternal life.

Redemption

Redemption means Jesus Christ, through his sacrificial death, purchased believers from the slavery of sin to set us free from that bondage. Another Greek word relating to this term is exagorazo.

Justification

Justification is God 's act making a sinner righteous before Him by His grace, received through the faith given to the person by God, for Christ 's sake, because of his life, death, and resurrection.

OUR NEXT STEP IS TO BRING OUR RELATIVES TO CHRIST

1. By being a living witness of how Christ is working in our life

2. Bring your relatives to Christ by your knowledge of God

Andrew bought Simon Peter to Christ

John 1:40-46 King James Version (KJV)

One of the two which heard John (the Baptist) speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

Philip Bought Nathaniel to Christ

John 1: 45 Philip found Nathaniel, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

46 And Nathaniel said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

We see two disciples who led friends to Christ.

Take your friends to Jesus

Luke 5: 17-26 tells about some friends of a paralyzed man who took their friend to Jesus in-spite of not being able to get into the building where he was. They tore a hole in the roof and lowered him in front of Jesus.

Jesus, seeing their faith, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”

He said to the paralytic—“I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home.”

25 Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God.

We can lead people to Christ

Bring your relatives to Christ by your example of God working through you when you are mistreated.

Jesus is our first example. He forgave those who were crucifying Him.

Hebrews 12:2 KJV Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Demonstrate the Christ in you

Jesus and the thief on His right.

Luke 23:32-43 King James Version (KJV)

And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. 36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.

39 And one of the malefactors (thieves) which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Don’t thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou come into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Point: Jesus forgave in verse 34 and the thief asked to be with Him in His kingdom in verse 42. The thief saw how Jesus handled His crucifixion and knew that only a righteous person would respond in that way. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into thy kingdom.

The Philippians Jailer

Acts 16:22-31 King James Version (KJV)

Paul & Silas were beaten and put in jail. Angels rescued them with an earthquake. When the jailer saw that Paul and Silas were no longer bound he started to commit suicide. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do yourself no harm: for we are all here.

Then the jailer called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, and brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved (RECEIVE SALVATION)? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

OLD TESTAMENT EXAMPLES

Daniel 3:28-29 THE FIERY FURNACE

Nebuchadnezzar declared, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him. They violated the king’s command and risked their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.

Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will be cut into pieces and their houses reduced to rubble. For there is no other god who can deliver in this way.”

DANIEL IN THE LION’S DEN

Daniel 6:25-26 Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth: “May you prosper greatly! “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel.

“For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

OUR NEXT STEP IS TO BRING OUR RELATIVES TO GOD

1. By our knowledge of God like Andrew, Simon Peter's brother and Phillip and Nathaniel

2. By being a living witness of how God is working in our life like Jesus on the Cross, like Paul and Silas, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and Daniel

Heavenly Father I believe that Jesus Christ, is the only begotten Son of God. He came to earth to be Lord and Savior of the world, and that by His death on the cross, He paid the price for my sins so that I can believe on Him, and I will not perish, but have salvation and everlasting life. Thank You for Jesus and thank You for my free gift of Salvation. Fill me with the Holy Spirit to lead me into all truth. Thank you for giving me the benefits of salvation: Healing, deliverance from destructive ways and habits, to be satisfied with good and righteous substances, activities, friends, crowned with love and compassion and complete restoration with a renewed mind.

Lord I turn from all my prideful sins and from everything that is dishonoring to Your name. I pray that I will grow in grace and in a knowledge of Jesus, until I come to a spiritual maturity - as day by day the Holy Spirit seeks to transform me into the likeness of Jesus. In Jesus name I pray, Amen
